The algebra competition is a 45-minute exam which consists of approximately 30 multiple choice questions. The participant will enter his/her answers on a scantron form (provided by the University). Each participant will need to bring a number of No. 2 pencils. No calculators may be used in the algebra competition.
The algebra exam will cover topics from Algebra I and Algebra II, including topics such as factoring, operations on algebraic expressions, solving equations and systems of equations, logarithmic and exponential expressions and equations, complex numbers, and the use of the Binomial Theorem.
Due to space restrictions we request that each school register no more than 8 students for this competition.
